COVID19. In the interests of public health we have decided to suspend the running of workshops for the time being. Please use the form at the foot of the page to subscribe to email updates and we'll let you know when they are expected to restart.

What is this?

This workshop offers you the opportunity to try a number of techniques, without having to bring a piece of furniture to work on.

Starting with a plain wooden crate, we will guide you through its transformation into a unique and personal keepsake that will be yours to take away.

Who is it for?

This workshop is suitable for anyone who has never painted furniture before, or who has some experience and would like to learn some new techniques.

How will we spend our time?

The workshop starts at 10.30am with a brew, a meet and greet, and an overview of the day.

You will paint the inside of the box with mineral paint and the outside with chalk paint, then choose from any of the techniques listed below.

Choose from any or all of the following techniques:

  • Crackle glazing
  • Stencilling
  • Raised stencilling
  • Decoupage with colour blending
  • Dry brushing
  • Distressing
  • Waxing with clear and dark wax and/or ageing dust
  • Gilding
  • Applying WoodUBend

Note that you are welcome to try as many as you like, but please be mindful of the timescale as we don’t want you having a part-finished piece at the end of your workshop!

We recommend that you have a rough plan of how you would like your project to look when finished.

There will be a lunch break (lunch is provided).

We expect to finish around 4pm.

What should I bring?

Just yourself. The crate, and all tools, equipment and materials will be provided.

The only exception is WoodUBend; pieces for use in this project can be purchased with a 10% discount on the day

Is there anything else I should know?

Please see the 'Important information' section on the 'Workshops' page.
