Made by Marley Stamps – UK Stockist
Made by Marley stamps for furniture painting, upcycling and craft. Two paintable stamps per set, designed and made in the Scottish Borders.
Made by Marley's stamps are cut for furniture. The motifs are large and open — the kind of pattern that reads across a drawer front or a cupboard door, rather than the fine detail work a card-making stamp is designed for.
Each set is a pair of stamps supplied on a clear backing, with several motifs to a stamp. Most designs pair larger feature motifs with smaller ones, and some add borders and trims, so one pack can carry a whole piece of furniture: a run along a drawer edge, a repeat across the doors, a single larger motif set on its own.
They take furniture paint directly, which is what makes them useful on a painted piece. The colour already on the frame becomes the pattern on the front, and the design belongs to the piece instead of sitting on top of it. Ink suits them too, if you want a crisper, printed line.

- Cut the stamps apart. Use scissors to cut carefully around the plastic backing, and keep the clear backing on — do not peel it away.
- Load the stamp. Apply a thin, even layer of paint to the raised design with a brush, a small roller or a sponge. Too much paint fills in the detail and the print loses its line.
- Print. Press the stamp down evenly and lift it straight off. Rocking it blurs the edges.
- Wash it straight away. Before the medium dries on the stamp, wash it in warm, soapy water. Keeping a bucket of water next to your project is the easiest way to make sure this actually happens.
- If you are using ink, clean the stamp with an appropriate stamp cleaner from time to time as well as washing it.
- Store the stamps flat. They are not for high-heat applications. Do not put them in a dishwasher or a microwave, and do not iron them.
