I have over the last couple of years purchased several items of furniture from Caroline of Godfrey’s Ear. Not only is the furniture beautifully and imaginatively upcycled but Caroline is always so delightful to deal with. She has a warm friendly helpful approach and a very creative eye.
She not only chooses some beautiful pieces of furniture but also manages to give furniture, which may have been a little tired looking, a whole new lease of life. Whilst having respect for the history of these pieces she manages to contemporise them in a sympathetic and striking way. She is passionate about what she does and is very knowledgeable about the paints, the application of the paints and other accessories.
Caroline goes the extra mile to ensure that she provides an excellent customer service, has always been brilliant at communicating with me and even the delivery team she uses have provided me with excellent service.
I have been delighted with every piece of furniture I have purchased — both original furniture and those pieces which have been lovingly upcycled. Highly recommended.Sally Newton
We first came across Caroline and her upcycled furniture at Derwentside, just wandering around when we saw furniture that came to life. It was different and exciting and affordable.
Spent some time chatting to Caroline, whose enthusiasm was infectious. The first piece we had done was an old, very dark, hand-carved bookcase which has been transformed and has pride of place in our dining area. The subtle use of copper tones on the carving really shows the lovely curves and shapes in the carving that, otherwise, were barely visible.
Caroline transformed two good quality but dated bedside tables into interesting and colourful pieces, and then using the same colours completely revitalised a very dowdy dressing table so that all three pieces work really well together. Just love the effect this has had on our bedroom.
One of the best things about Godfrey’s Ear is the enthusiasm, skill and commitment of Caroline, her genuine interest in putting together something that would work for us. The fun we had in choosing colours and designs was an added bonus.
We now have some beautiful pieces of furniture which work really well in our house and we have some great memories. How often can you say that about buying furniture?Ruth Stretton
Had a fabulous day today, on a 1-2-1 furniture painting workshop. Caroline is really, friendly, knowledgeable and fun to learn from. Totally recommend taking a painting course with Godfrey’s Ear, you will come away buzzing and longing to get started with your paintbrush.
