ChromaFlex by Fusion Mineral Paint is a water-based decorative thick paint that adds luminous, colour-shifting shimmer to furniture, décor and creative projects. Applied thinly, it appears almost invisible from one direction yet catches the light with iridescent depth from another, making every surface feel dynamic and unique.

This pack contains 22ml tubes of each of the four nature-inspired colours: Blue Butterfly, Scarlet Dragonfly, Turquoise Peacock and Violet Hummingbird.

What is Chromaflex?

ChromaFlex™ is a thick, water-based decorative paint from Fusion Mineral Paint that transforms surfaces with a shimmering, colour-shifting iridescence inspired by nature. Applied in a thin coat, it adds luminous depth that appears almost invisible head-on yet explodes with colour as the viewing angle changes.

The effect is most dramatic over dark base colours, where ChromaFlex produces an intense, show-stopping shimmer. On mid-tones the shift is beautiful and more understated, while over light colours it gives a soft opalescent glow. Use it over any shade of Fusion Mineral Paint, Alchemy by Fusion, or Fusion Milk Paint to suit the intensity you're after.

ChromaFlex comes in four colours — Blue Butterfly, Scarlet Dragonfly, Turquoise Peacock and Violet Hummingbird — available as individual 60ml tubes or as a variety pack containing a 22ml tube of each colour. Don't be fooled by the tube sizes: a little goes a long way. One thin coat is all you need, and the thinner the application, the more vivid the iridescent effect.

Apply with a brush, then mist lightly with water and brush out to create an even, luminous finish. When wet it appears milky; it dries clear and reaches peak intensity once fully dry. Thicker application will create texture, while a light mist with a Continuous Spray Mister helps minimise brush strokes. Brush texture is part of ChromaFlex's hand-crafted, artisanal character — embrace it or smooth it out to suit your project.

ChromaFlex can also be mixed into Fusion's water-based mediums for translucent and dimensional effects. Add it to Tough Coat Gloss to intensify the sheen, to Clear Furniture Wax for a subtle pigmented shimmer, to Decoupage & Transfer Gel for a shifting luminous layer, or to Embossing Paste for raised, colour-flip stencil work.

The four colours can be blended together for custom shifts — try Blue Butterfly with Turquoise Peacock for an electric blue-green flip, or Scarlet Dragonfly with Violet Hummingbird for a midnight-to-sunset effect.

No top coat is required. For extra protection or an ultra-glass-like sheen, seal with Tough Coat Gloss. Avoid matte topcoats if you want to preserve full iridescent intensity.

How to use

Choose your base colour
The darker the surface, the stronger and more vibrant the shimmer. Over dark paints, ChromaFlex produces an intense, colour-shifting effect. On mid-tones it's more subtle but still very noticeable. On light colours it gives a soft, opalescent glow.

Apply thinly — one coat is enough
ChromaFlex is a thick paint where a little goes a long way. Apply with a brush, then use a spray mister to thin it out and brush through for a luminous, even finish. The thinner the application, the more impactful the colour; thicker application will create texture. When wet it appears milky — it dries clear and reaches peak intensity once fully dry.

Embrace the texture
ChromaFlex naturally shows soft brush texture, which contributes to its hand-crafted, artisanal look. To minimise brush strokes, mist lightly with water using a Continuous Spray Mister.

Create translucent layers
Mix ChromaFlex into any of Fusion's water-based mediums for different effects:

Tough Coat Gloss — increases sheen and intensifies the shimmer
Clear Furniture Wax — approximately 10 drops will pigment a 50g container
Decoupage & Transfer Gel — adds a shifting, luminous layer to decoupaged papers and transfers
Embossing Paste — produces raised, dimensional, colour-flip effects; ideal for stencils

Mix shades together
Blend ChromaFlex colours for custom shifts:

Blue Butterfly + Turquoise Peacock — electric blue-green flip
Scarlet Dragonfly + Violet Hummingbird — midnight-to-sunset effect
Turquoise Peacock + Violet Hummingbird — mermaid-inspired radiance

Top coat
No top coat is required. For extra protection or an ultra-glass-like sheen, seal with Tough Coat Gloss. Avoid matte topcoats if you want to preserve full iridescent intensity.

Tips

Paint or stencil ChromaFlex motifs over a matte black base for designs that practically disappear head-on and glow when you move.
Layer very thinly over paint glazes or metallic paints for a holographic effect.
Always test first — the shift is dramatic and changes with every lighting condition.

What delivery services do you use?

We only ship within the United Kingdom.

All orders are sent via Royal Mail.

'Standard delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 48. The expected delivery timescale for this is 2–3 working days.

'Express delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 24. This is expected to arrive in 1–2 working days.

How much will delivery cost?

The charge for delivery is based on the service (standard or express) and on the weight of the parcel.

Delivery starts at £3.95 for standard, and £4.95 for express. As a guide, if your order is heavier than two 500ml pots of paint then it will probably move up to a higher price band.

When will my order be dispatched?

Orders placed before midday on weekdays (other than bank holidays) will be dispatched on the same day.

Orders received after that will be dispatched the next working day.

If, for any reason, this will not be possible, this will be clearly shown in a banner message at the top of the site.

You will notified by email when your order has been dispatched.
