This lovely coffee table is made by Ercol – a British company who were based at High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire and were well known for the production of high quality and stylish furniture.
This particular little beauty was produced in 1978 and her model number is #504. All these details can be seen on her original gold label, which I carefully removed then replaced after her facelift!
Her top is made of solid English elm that has been completely sanded and then given three coats of clear satin varnish for protection and to enhance her beautiful graining (previously hidden under dark varnish). Her turned legs have been sanded and painted in Annabell Duke Mineral Paint, in a custom mix of Empire Green with Wattle and Daub. This dark neutral colour complements and contrasts with the lovely warm tones of the elm top.
This is a coffee table to be proud of, and useful too! She would certainly make a big statement in your living room. I can just see her now staged with an interiors magazine or two: you will be the envy of your friends and neighbours!
Dimensions (all measurements are approximate):
* 104cm length, 46cm width, 45cm height.
This is a vintage piece that has had a long previous life. It is also hand-painted and hand-finished. In my opinion, any minor imperfections that may be present as a result of both of these factors contribute to its character, charm and history.
