How to use

What you'll need:

Image medium (such as Mint Finish), Mint Felt Decoupage Applicator or a ball of cling film, spray bottle of water (optional), your chosen sealer or lacquer.

Steps:

1. Prepare your surface. Clean and dry the furniture or item you're decorating. Sand smooth if needed. Apply a base coat of paint if the surface is porous or unfinished.

2. Apply image medium to a small area. Start with a section roughly the size of your hand. Spread the medium (like Mint Finish) evenly with a brush.

3. Position the decoupage paper. Carefully lay the paper onto the glued area, smoothing it flat as you go.

4. Smooth with the applicator. Use the Mint Felt Applicator or a ball of cling film to gently smooth the paper, removing air bubbles and wrinkles. The gentle friction helps the paper settle perfectly.

5. Repeat section by section. Work across the entire surface, applying medium and smoothing paper in manageable sections until complete.

6. Finish your piece. Once the glue is dry, you have three options:

No finish: Leave as-is for low-traffic surfaces.
Oil-based finish: Apply multiple coats of oil-based top coat or wax.
Water-based finish: First apply 3 thin coats of lacquer (allowing drying time between coats), then seal with water-based top coat. You can also use Mint Finish as a final sealer for a matte, durable finish.

Paint shop shipping FAQ

What delivery services do you use?

We only ship within the United Kingdom.

All orders are sent via Royal Mail.

'Standard delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 48. The expected delivery timescale for this is 2–3 working days.

'Express delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 24. This is expected to arrive in 1–2 working days.

How much will delivery cost?

The charge for delivery is based on the service (standard or express) and on the weight of the parcel.

Delivery starts at £3.95 for standard, and £4.95 for express. As a guide, if your order is heavier than two 500ml pots of paint then it will probably move up to a higher price band.

When will my order be dispatched?

Orders placed before midday on weekdays (other than bank holidays) will be dispatched on the same day.

Orders received after that will be dispatched the next working day.

If, for any reason, this will not be possible, this will be clearly shown in a banner message at the top of the site.

You will notified by email when your order has been dispatched.

Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that the shipping address and other contact details on your order are correct. Whilst I make every effort to spot obvious errors, I cannot be held responsible for missing parcels if you have not provided me with complete, correct address information.

What if I have special requirements?

If you need your order more quickly, or have any other special requirements, please do let me know. For example, you may have missed the cutoff for same-day dispatch, or you may want your order to be tracked, or signed for, or to be guaranteed next day.

How are orders packaged?

Small, non-fragile items such as roller sleeves or paintbrushes are generally sent in padded envelopes.

Other items are carefully packed in sturdy cardboard boxes and clearly marked as fragile.

I take great pride in the quality of our packing, and so far (touch wood!) I have had no instances where orders have suffered damage in transit.
