Mint Finish is the 2-in-1 product Mint by Michelle designed to work hand in hand with their decoupage paper — but it doesn't stop there. It's also a genuinely good all-round top coat for painted furniture and craft projects.

Use it as the image medium to glue and seal decoupage paper onto your piece, or brush it over painted furniture as a protective, professional-looking varnish. Either way, this water-based, eco-friendly formula dries completely clear with no yellowing, so your colours and papers stay true for years to come. It's non-toxic and suitable for both indoor and outdoor projects.

Choose Matte for a soft, non-reflective finish, or Shine for a glossy, high-impact look. Supplied in a 500ml tin.

How to use

What you'll need: Mint Finish (Matte or Shine), a brush or applicator, water for thinning.

As a decoupage image medium:

Thin Mint Finish with approximately 15% water.
Brush a thin, even coat onto your prepared surface.
Position your decoupage paper and smooth it flat, working section by section.
Once dry, apply further light coats of Mint Finish over the top as a sealer, allowing each coat to dry before the next.

As a furniture top coat:

Thin Mint Finish with approximately 15% water.
Apply in several light coats rather than one thick coat, letting each coat dry fully before applying the next.
Choose Matte for a soft, non-reflective finish, or Shine for a glossy result.

Mint by Michelle began in 2016 in Michelle's garage in Geelong, Victoria. What started as one creative venture has grown into a family-run brand now found in more than 30 countries, while still keeping the sense that it was built by somebody who genuinely loves the process of transforming a surface.

What delivery services do you use?

We only ship within the United Kingdom.

All orders are sent via Royal Mail.

'Standard delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 48. The expected delivery timescale for this is 2–3 working days.

'Express delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 24. This is expected to arrive in 1–2 working days.

How much will delivery cost?

The charge for delivery is based on the service (standard or express) and on the weight of the parcel.

Delivery starts at £3.95 for standard, and £4.95 for express. As a guide, if your order is heavier than two 500ml pots of paint then it will probably move up to a higher price band.

When will my order be dispatched?

Orders placed before midday on weekdays (other than bank holidays) will be dispatched on the same day.

Orders received after that will be dispatched the next working day.

If, for any reason, this will not be possible, this will be clearly shown in a banner message at the top of the site.

You will notified by email when your order has been dispatched.

Shipping details

Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that the shipping address and other contact details on your order are correct. Whilst I make every effort to spot obvious errors, I cannot be held responsible for missing parcels if you have not provided me with complete, correct address information.

What if I have special requirements?

If you need your order more quickly, or have any other special requirements, please do let me know. For example, you may have missed the cutoff for same-day dispatch, or you may want your order to be tracked, or signed for, or to be guaranteed next day.
