Fleur Pouring Oxidant Medium - 130ml
Description Plus

The Fleur real rust and verdigris products combine in a system that allows you to apply a real rust or verdigris finish to your surface.

This is not a paint effect! You apply real metallic microparticles — iron for rust, or copper for verdigris, followed by a reagent to start the oxidation process and finally an antioxidant to stop the oxidation.

Highlights Plus
  • Not just a paint effect
  • Real oxidised metallic microparticles
  • Iron for rust or copper for verdigris
  • Mix light and dark for an authentic finish
  • Add reagent to start oxidation, and antioxidant to stop it
  • You control the degree of oxidation
  • Water-based products
  • Simple to use

Components

  • (Optional) Primer
  • (Required) Rust base and/or light rust base
(or copper base and/or light copper base)
  • (Required) Reagent
  • (Required) Antioxidant

Important

The primer, reagent and antioxidant come in rust and verdigris versions.

These are not interchangeable so make sure to have a matching set.

How to use Plus

Optional preparation step

If adhesion is an issue, or you want to cover a patchy, stained or marked surface, I would recommend using the rust or verdigris-specific primer.

Step 1: apply the metallic particles

Apply two coats of the rust or copper base with a brush or roller.

In each case, you can choose the light base or the dark base, or apply a combination of both light and dark for a more variegated look.

Allow the paint to dry, but not fully cure.

Step 2: apply reagent to start the oxidation

Use a brush or roller in a criss-cross or haphazard pattern, or use a sponge for a more textured finish.

Allow the reaction to continue for a minimum of 18 hours and a maximum of 48 hours according to the degree of oxidation you want.

Step 3: apply antioxidant to stop the reaction

Apply using a brush or roller.

Optional finishing step

Once fully dry you can further protect your work with a clear water-based varnish.

I recommend using Fleur spray varnish as the surface will have a slight texture, and applying with a brush or roller might disturb and move the formations.

Important note

The respective primers, oxidising agents and reagents are specific to the rust or verdigris options. You can’t mix and match these components because the process won’t work.

About Fleur Paints Plus

History and inspiration

Fleur paint is made in Italy. It is produced by a family-owned business established over 80 years ago and run today by the third generation. A company that is championed for its Ethics, Values and Quality.

Fleur paint is made using ancient and traditional recipes, based on a high content of the purest, finest and natural pigments that refract and diffuse the light, giving the colours exceptional vibrancy and depth. When the light hits the pigments, the entire surface is illuminated and it’s this element that gives Fleur paint such a unique finish. In other words, you get the mattness without the flatness.

Fleur and the environment

A love and respect for the planet and the environment are at the forefront of Fleur’s ethics, philosophy and identity. That’s why they have created products that...
