Description

Clear Coat is a water-based polyacrylic top coat for sealing painted furniture. It adds a layer of protection and makes a surface easier to wipe clean, without changing the colour underneath.

It comes in two finishes: Flat, which keeps the chalky matte look of the paint exactly as it is, and Satin, which adds a soft, low sheen. Both are water resistant, and both go on in thin coats with a dry brush or a sponge.

It suits chests of drawers, wardrobes, sideboards and bookcases — anything indoors getting ordinary daily use. For worktops, table tops, bathrooms and outdoor pieces, Gator Hide is the tougher option.

How to use

Let the paint dry completely. Sealing over paint that is still damp is what traps moisture in the finish.
Shake the tin well. Give it a proper shake before you start.
Apply a thin coat. Use a dry brush, a sponge or an applicator pad. Thin is the word that matters — thick coats are where problems start.
Build up to three coats. Let each one dry before the next.
If you sand between coats, clean up after. Any dust left behind gets sealed into the next coat.

If the finish comes out hazy, that is moisture trapped between layers rather than a fault with the product. Clear Coat Flat dries completely clear.

About Dixie Belle Paint Company

Dixie Belle Paint Company started in 2014 in Port Richey, Florida, and still makes its products there. Everything is mixed and poured in small batches rather than run off a production line — a slower way to work, chosen so that every tin behaves the same way as the last one.

The character of the brand is unmistakably Southern: warm, plain-spoken and not remotely precious about itself. Names like Sawmill Gravy, Kudzu and Best Dang Wax tell you most of what you need to know about the tone. The names are light-hearted; the products are not.

What holds the range together is that it is designed as a system rather than a catalogue. Paints, primers, top coats, waxes, stains and texture products are all made to work with one another, so the question is never whether one will sit happily over another. That matters most to the people the brand is really for — anyone who has looked at a tired piece of furniture and wondered where on earth to start. The products are built to be forgiving, and to get somebody to a good result without a workshop full of specialist kit.

Paint shop shipping FAQ

What delivery services do you use?

We only ship within the United Kingdom.

All orders are sent via Royal Mail.

'Standard delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 48. The expected delivery timescale for this is 2–3 working days.

'Express delivery' means Royal Mail Tracked 24. This is expected to arrive in 1–2 working days.

How much will delivery cost?

The charge for delivery is based on the service (standard or express) and on the weight of the parcel.

Delivery starts at £3.95 for standard, and £4.95 for express. As a guide, if your order is heavier than two 500ml pots of paint then it will probably move up to a higher price band.

When will my order be dispatched?

Orders placed before midday on weekdays (other than bank holidays) will be dispatched on the same day.

Orders received after that will be dispatched the next working day.

If, for any reason, this will not be possible, this will be clearly shown in a banner message at the top of the site.

You will notified by email when your order has been dispatched.

Whilst I make every effort to spot obvious errors, I cannot be held responsible for missing parcels if you have not provided me with complete, correct address information.
